Background story:

I approached some stray cats. The white one who’s back toward us and on the right is a cripple and weak. After sometime I was there watching, their mother was willing to give the smallest white cat away to me.

She knows her kid might not survive the battle royal of stray life. It is a better for a human to protect her child. There is great emotion for a mother in a cat. Who said animal was not capable of complex logic thinking, I believe a human will do the exact same thing. Please treat nicely to all living things including human being, after all we all are very emotional.
